Los nuevos ateísmos desde la sociología de la religión

Resumen

El ateísmo contemporáneo asume rasgos nuevos, aunque sus contenidos siguen las pautas del ateísmo tradicional. Desde un punto de vista más sociológico se puede describir el llamado ‘nuevo ateísmo’ como un amplio movimiento social, cuyo programa y actuación aparece simétrico al de las formas de fundamentalismo religioso, con características similares. Por otro lado se trata de un movimiento que sigue las pautas y organización de las redes sociales online. Su relación con la secularización de fondo en las sociedades avanzadas es compleja, pues por un lado alimenta la actual crisis religiosa, pero por otro replantea la cuestión de Dios en un ambiente que parecía indiferente o haberla olvidado.
