In Western societies, multiple ethical paradigms coexist. Consequently, the dilemmas that are posed by genetics may be understood and resolved in diverse ways, based on the way in which the human being is conceived and the rights that guarantee their dignity. This article analyses the arguments and the criteria put forward by the Magisterium of the Catholic Church for understanding and making decisions, in accordance with this faith-based vision of reality, on the bioethical conflicts generated in this field of knowledge.
