Abstract

In 1996 the Pontifical Council for the Family announced the norms that the different Episcopal Conferences should follow to regulate the process of preparation for the sacrament of marriage. In 2003, the Spanish Episcopal Conference devoted one of the chapters in the Directory of the Pastoral Care of the Family to discuss this issue. This work analyses how the suggestions of the Pontifical Council’s document have been interpreted in Spain and their relation with other similar documents, such as Benedict XVI’s speech to the Tribunal of Roman Rota in January 2011.
