Abstract

This article poses a question for the message of hope that the Second Vatican Council sent to the world: What does this hope bestow upon history? Reviewing the Constitution Gaudium et Spes, especially GS 40-41, the eschatological dimension of the Church emerges as the source of its service to hope in the world. Revealing the eschatological destination of human life and history, as well as of labor, the Church manifests itself as being the «Universal Sacrament of Salvation».
