Abstract

In recent years, separation and divorce in Spain are reaching a fairly high levels, so there is increasingly suffering under this situation which leads to conflict. The purpose of this study was to determine the situation of children who are faced with the process of separation and divorce of their parents, and the change in family dynamics involved in this process. The family is vital to the healthy development of human beings, as well as one of the main groups of socialization. However, in some circumstances, the separation may be a necessary step when the couple's relationship has become very controversial, hasserious repercussions on the children and have exhausted all avenues to resolve the situation. Regarding the methodology of work, noting that there are a number of secondary sources, documentary sources on how the children live the process of separation and divorce of their parents and the effects, both positiveand negative, associated with this situation. As all this information was insufficient to the topic at hand I turned to primary sources such as observation of professionals working with families who are in this situation and in turn the development of a questionnaire, which was completed by a sample of 22-custodial parents and non custodial attending a public service to make the exchange, delivery and collection of children.
