Abstract

Paulo Freire, Brazilian educator, was born in 1921 and developed his interest in education after his marriage, despite having studied law. His life experience, marked by suffering and poverty, led him to question social injustices and to seek ways to help others. Freire moved away from the Church, but returned to it through reading, which influenced his pedagogical thinking and his commitment to critical education. His work focuses on dialogue and social awareness as tools for educational transformation.
