Abstract

This paper offers basic information on the concept and assessment of creativity and the strategies that have been developed for its promotion in the school context.  This article reviews some of the most current conceptions of this ability, as well as of the main instruments used to assess its manifestations by employing objective criteria. Of all these instruments, we have chosen to present a more detailed description of the PIC battery, since it´s one of the most complete instruments and with better psychometric properties for the assessment of creativity .Finally, a wide set of exercises and techniques to develop creativity in the classroom, as well as tips for parents and teachers to encourage it´s development are offered.
