This article presents the relationship between the mysticism of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin and his vision of God’s way of being present in an evolving world. It analyzes the Jesuit scientist’s religious experience, expressed in several of his texts, showing that he was not a pantheist but a particular type of Christic pan-en-theist, also called pan-Christism. It exposes Teilhard’s spiritual evolution: from overcoming the pantheistic temptation he experienced in his youth to maturing his spirituality influenced by living the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, especially the exercise called ‘Contemplation to attain love’.Downloads
