The article presents the theological and spiritual thought of José Cobo (focusing on Incapaces de Dios: contra la divinidad oceánica, Fragmenta, 2019). A reflection that opens the way by taking distance from three theological and pastoral lines: 1) the conservative one, which repeats some formulas of the tradition that have become incomprehensible to our contemporaries; 2) ethical reductionism, in which God can be limited to one motive among others to do good; 3) transconfessional reductionism, in which the essence of Christianity can be confused with the common background of religions.
