The journal Razón y Fe, since its foundation, tries to build bridges between the rationality of human knowledge, cultures, and universal religious traditions. Our way of thinking in the West is deeply influenced by philosophical categories taken from the great thinkers of ancient Greece. There are concepts that are frontiers for understanding other cultures (hence the incommensurability of paradigms). In the West, we continually use abstract concepts such as matter and form, substance and accident, gender and species, entity or person, which are alien to the Hindu way of thinking. Thus, when approaching the works of the great thinkers of India, one can easily be misguided, using categories, concepts, and words that do not always have the same meaning in Hindu thinkers as they may have in the West.
