Migración internacional y carrera académica

Análisis comparativo de dos colectivos de inmigrantes académicos en México y España

Resumen

El artículo explora las razones de migración de dos grupos de académicos (españoles e italianos en México y latinoamericanos en España). Mientras los europeos del sur migran a México debido a la falta de empleos de calidad en la academia de sus países de origen, los latinoamericanos se desplazan mayormente a España para ampliar estudios. En segundo lugar, el artículo analiza las trayectorias laborales de estos dos grupos. Los académicos del sur de Europa tienen una progresión laboral positiva en México, pero los académicos latinoamericanos en España consiguen principalmente posiciones laborales precarias con perfiles orientados a la docencia, de tal forma que algunos optan por abandonar la academia o incluso se plantean una nueva migración. Como argumento de fondo, se encuentra la discusión sobre si los grupos estudiados responden a una “migración del conocimiento” o son “migrantes cualificados” que migran ante la falta de perspectivas laborales.
