Resumen

Esta ponencia trata de la paradójica yuxtaposición de un gobierno laborista que busca realizar una política multicultural pluralista y progresiva al mismo tiempo que mantiene una vehemente política fronteriza antiasilo. El debate ubica ambos procesos en el repertorio político histórico que conforma el multiculturalismo británico. En concreto, examina el papel del discurso de la tolerancia en la vida británica y sus difíciles relaciones con un modelo de gestión de la diversidad étnica basado en los derechos.
