The objective of the article is to analyse the spaces of reception and hospitality for asylum seekers and refugees in Spain from a feminist and gender anthropological perspective. Complex categories that form an important part of the lexicon of humanitarian aid orbit around asylum, with particular emphasis on the area of refuge. Among these, the categories of welcome and hospitality are particularly relevant. While it is true that there is a growing body of research in refugee studies from a feminist and gender perspective, it is still rare (at national and international level) in the debate on reception and hospitality. Based on the ethnographic case study carried out in the city of Madrid during the years 2014-2019, the results of the ethnographic analysis of the different reception spaces and how they are shaped by the patriarchal system in the maintenance of inequalities between men and women will be presented.
