Dificultades en la prevención de la violencia contra los niños

La Convención de los Derechos del Niño reconoce que todos los niños tienen el derecho a estar libres de todas las formas de violencia. La violencia contra los niños tiene unos graves efectos a largo plazo sobre sus funciones cerebrales y su salud mental, con conductas de alto riesgo y disfunción social. Basándose en la experiencia del autor y en una bibliografía actualizada, se describen las dificultades en comprender, combatir y prevenir la violencia contra los niños, que incluye la violencia física, la sexual, la negligencia, el bullying y el cyberbullying. El conocimiento de las circunstancias asociadas al maltrato infantil ayuda a la prevención mediante la intervención temprana, pero es un problema complejo, sin una única causa y sin una única solución. Las estrategias son: aplicación y refuerzo de medidas legales, educación en normas, valores y habilidades, servicios de soporte que ayuden al niño a curarse y el acceso a la justicia, así como el soporte social y económico a los padres.
