Entre la integración social y la triple jornada laboral: un análisis de las dinámicas de integración en una localidad rural en el este de Alemania

Resumen

En los últimos años, las zonas rurales de Europa han experimentado un aumento de la inmigración internacional, sin precedentes en algunos casos. Si bien la inmigración laboral en Alemania ha sido elogiada por sus beneficios para las economías locales, la integración social de los inmigrantes y su nivel de bienestar a menudo han quedado relegados a un segundo plano. Este artículo utiliza la teoría del contacto para examinar qué papel juega este en el proceso de integración de los migrantes laborales en una localidad rural de Turingia, estado del este de Alemania. Más allá de la idea de la integración como asimilación, ampliamos el enfoque horizontal de la investigación, comparando las perspectivas de dos grupos: el de los recién llegados y el de la población local. Los resultados sugieren que la aportación material de los inmigrantes no compensa su necesidad de contribuir a la sociedad. Nuestra investigación también destaca la importancia de los lugares compartidos para el encuentro en las zonas rurales y muestra que su ausencia conduce a una integración impuesta en lugar de negociada.
