The development of biomedical techniques in the second half of the 20th century has led science to be considered omnipotent. This has influenced health institutions and healthcare workers and has led to changes in the conceptualizations of health, disease and death.
The increasing biomedical technification of intensive care units, aimed at reversing serious diseases, has prioritized the biological aspect of the person, dehumanizing medicine. Pediatric palliative care rescues the integrality of the person and provides appropriate and respectful care, in accordance with the human dignity, especially at the end of life, which constitutes a humanizing approach.
