Abstract

In Spain, the National Health System ensures all Spaniards the universal right to health care. “Health care for everyone” is clearly an unsustainable proposition in a world in crisis and demands rationalization in the protection of this right, for which we are all responsible. Through an analysis on the portfolio of services of the National Health System, this article makes an ethical reflection on the implicit and explicit concept of State protected health, as well as on the criteria of welfare benefit inclusion.
