Liberalism, one of the first theoretical approaches to International Relations has a long history and different streams have appeared within it over time.
In the Spanish case, we should mention that there are hardly any authors who consider themselves as liberals. This is probably due to the evolution of the subject of International Relations in Spain, really different from its development in the anglosaxon context. However, we cannot hide the similarities between the approach and the questions studied by some Spanish academics and those which make part of the research object for Liberalism.
Besides, we should stress that the research of Spanish School in International Relations has been in many occasions groundbraking in terms of methodology but also regarding the inclusion of some questions as part of the research object of International Relations.
