Abstract

This article aims to reflect on the victim-offender mediation within the paradigm of restorative justice. We progress in the methodological perspective from the lens of social work, publicizing the elements of social innovation. It explains the humanistic model of mediation and its essential practical implications. Restorative justice is conceived as a theoretical and practical paradigm. It understands the answer to crime with the requirement to address and repair the damage, to meet the needs of the people involved in the response to what happened. It’s also possible to invite in those processes to the members of the community. Restorative Justice emphasizes on attending the needs of offenders and victims, allowing the process of rebuilt broken relationships. The values of respect, responsibility and interpersonal relationship will be crucial in any restorative process.
