Abstract

In educative contexts at university level, we often utilize reusable units of information applied to different objectives and contexts that, in each particular case, originate new contents of information. This way, we benefit from the association of data that, when adequately combined, produce information. Such a reuse can, under certain circumstances, substitute for the production itself of information. This is the path to the so-called learning objects. In the article, the focus moves from the concept and evolution of these resources, through their standardization, form, size, assembling, storing, metadata structure, etc. It is important to characterize the learning objects and their technological and pedagogical dimensions.
