Social Work: A profession for our times

The work at hand has two principal objetives. The profession of Social Work —in previous times and today— is presented briefly, by pointing out the principal functions and areas of activity,as well as the academic training of professionals. The importance of its opportune nature in today's society, which evidencesdiverse difficulties and deficiencies,is explained and the situation is briefly examined. Finally, an overview, with information on European projects concerning university studies, contained in the «Bologna Process» is offered,thus, highlighting that university study plans for the training of social workers have been totally adapted to the «humanitarian» nature of the reforms containedin the plans.Downloads
