Overview of the Colombian early childhood public policies

Although Colombia’s attention to early childhood has relevant history, its in 2003 when the country assumes the challenge of starting a mobilization process that led to the design of a national policy for the population under six years age. It starts from understanding the importance of the early years of life in human development and society and the necessity of joint work of the various estates of the country to ensure the rights in early childhood. This article provides a detailed overview of the policy following the phase of public policy cycle. Thus, the emphasisis on the formulation that had the participation of international organizations, civil society and representatives of the State and describes the implementation phase with reference to the role of civil society. Finally, we mention the phases ofassessment, analysis and restructuring in which the country has big challenges.Downloads
