Los derechos de explotación del contenido audiovisual y la entrada de las plataformas Over The Top (OTT): estudio caso Netflix

El mercado de la industria audiovisual tradicional, y el comercio internacional de los productos que de ella se derivan, se ha visto afectado por el nuevo modelo de negocio que ofrecen las compañías de contenido «Over The Top» (OTT), las cuales reducen cada vez más los intermediarios de distribución y ponen el acento en una mayor flexibilidad para el consumidor. Las plataformas OTT se consolidan, asimismo, a través de la generación de su propio contenido, en la que los creativos poseen más libertad. Este trabajo se cuestiona si verdaderamente se ofrece un nuevo modelo de negocio frente al comercio tradicional de derechos de explotación de contenido audiovisual, cómo las OTT hoy permean –o no– en distintas regiones y, además, se abre la pregunta sobre la importancia de la inversión en la producción de contenido audiovisual original de alto nivel en este modelo de negocio.
