About the Journal
Icade, journal of the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, is subtitled Revista de la Facultad de Derecho, as an expression of its special relationship with the Faculty of Law.
It was published for the first time in 1984 as a multidisciplinary journal covering the main aspects related to the field of Law, Economics and Business Administration and Management. It is a scientific publication, issued every six months. The quality criteria is what these type of publications usually require but, in addition, it has always tried to expose, analyze and give answers and proposals to the important changes that have arisen over the years in the areas of law, economic and business. Since 2020, Icade has focused on innovation and legal changes that occur or should occur in a world characterized by constant transformations in all aspects of social life.
Since the issue 106, Icade is an open access journal. Its contents are available on this website from number 61.
Focus and Scope
Icade, designed as a decidedly interdisciplinary publication, discusses issues surrounding the world of Law, focusing on developments that occur in the legal and social field, paying attention to the ethical problems that arise in those environments.
The priority objectives of Icade include: a) Promoting and developing of university research and dissemination of its findings; b) Fostering scientific progress in its key areas of interest; c) And attention to the constant change in legal process that occurs in the contemporary, globalized world. Its main focus is, therefore, the interrelation that occurs between social, technological, cultural, economic changes and the legal innovations that these changes mean in the field of Law.
Peer Review Process
The review process begins with the submission of the paper to two specialized reviewers on the list of collaborators published by the Journal. The paper is submitted in writing removing the author's details, and a standard form is attached to ensure that the review is conducted anonymously (blind review) and subject to a standard review protocol. The deadline for issuing the report is 20 days from the receipt of the paper by the reviewers. The report is filed with the Journal and its outcome will be communicated to the author. If the outcome of the review is negative, then publication will be refused. However, if any caveats are included, these are notified to the author so that he/she may incorporate them and resubmit the amended paper, which will be then re-reviewed and flagged as a pre-requisite for publication. The ICADE Journal rejects about 30% of applications for publication received annually.
Before publication, the authors of all accepted papers grant all exploitation rights and copyrights relating to such articles. This granting of rights is intended for the protection of the common interests of authors and publishers. Once they have successfully completed the selection process, the authors that publish articles in the print edition of the ICADE Journal also grant the same permission for the article to be published on Comillas Pontifical University's website.
