Disability in the business: opportunity or challenge?

This article presents the hiring of handicapped people as evidence of good reputewithin a company.The author analyses supposed competitive advantages stemmed from the presenceof disabled people on the staff, a better social climate, greater sense of belonging, an increase in economical performance and a better reputation - all thanks to thisdata compiled through personal interviews with fifty HR managers from the industrial sector in Burgos, July 2009.This report concludes by proposing a new approach towards business communication:Companies must focus on a social commitment born of their socially responsible management that will in turn generate a rise in reputation because main stakeholders’(meaning employees, customers and society) expectations are satisfied.References
