Reconocimiento y protección de los derechos de autor en las escenografías

The scenographies, props and proposals for a show implemented by scenographersare an essential aspect of Scenic Arts. In Scenic Arts, the Theatre, Opera and Dance are collaborating works that generate intellectual property rights in favour of all of their participating authors. And the copyright of a literary, artistic or scientific work corresponds to the author for the simple fact of being its creator, as clearly citedin Article 1 of our Copyright Act. Therefore, it is possible to affirm that scenographers, creators who are somewhere between painters and architects, can and must be considered authors. With aview to the future, it would be appropriate if laws and regulation texts explicitly stated the condition of the scenographic author. In general, we understand the role of the librettist, composer or choreographer, while the work of the scenographer is amystery for many of us. And this poses a problem when trying to regulate their conditionas an author.References
