Ethical aspects of the use of organisms (GMOs) in agriculture and food

Ethical concerns regarding the use of genetically modified organisms (GMO) inagriculture and food products. A balanced moral opinion regarding GMOs must take into account diverse perspectives, contexts and values of the agents involved: the biotechnological industry,producers, distributors, consumers, ecological movements, communication media,scientists and responsible politicians. Only then will we be able to realistically understand the moral plurality, the new ecological sensibility, and the ethical principlesof biotechnologies. These aspects will lead us to the deeper authentic problemsat hand: the conflict between natural and artificial (Aristotelian moment) and the question of how to evaluate the means and any possible health risks (Utilitarism moment).References
