The study of social networks in research migration

The paper considers how the studies on networks have acquired the prominent place they now have in the research taking place on migration. That place was demanded by the evolution of the theories explaining migration, by advances in the knowledge of the benefits of social capital and by changesin the theoretical approaches and conceptions of sociology. It then briefly summarizes the fields in which this type of studies can be applied to theknowledge of migratory phenomena and the methodologies most used.References
