Abstract

Foreign immigration is a recent phenomenon in Galicia. Nevertheless, the percentage of foreigners in the region is lower than that of the national average, as recent immigrant society the changed trend of the Autonomous Community (before an emigrant community) has had a significant impact on important and different areas. This paper analyzes the living conditions and some major territorial dynamics of the foreign population in Galicia from the immigrant point of view. All critical elements regarding to the permanent settlement expectations of the immigrants. The data were extracted from a survey of five large foreign residents groups. The information we have studied not only furnishes knowledge about the immigration phenomenon, but also provides data not found in official statistics
