Social work with immigrants: peculiarities and dilemmas.
Abstract
The social integration of immigrants, as well as the intervention with these groups by private or public systems of protection are issues that lead to a dilemma. One of the questions is: which are the specificities of the immigrant condition that influence the difficulties of social integration. Another related question is: how to reconcile a social protection system supposedly based on a policy of integration— with the social service attention to a group that has these specificities. This last question, which is not new, poses some problems when designing and confronting social intervention. This article pretends to give some thought to these two issues.
