The starting point of this article is a central question in Van Rensselaer Potter's Global Bioethics: how can it be applied to specific reality? We hypothesise that one possible answer could be found by converging its central elements with the hermeneutic path taken by the author from his “place of speech”. Methodologically, a critical-analytical investigation of his work is adopted. It is argued that, in addition the originality of the proposal, it requires a new perspective and a different approach, involving a bold, pragmatic path, its own language and a sui generis methodology that needs to be properly understood. The conclusion drawn is that Potter's work, as he himself seems to suggest, does not contain a ready-made, complete bioethical system but rather a method for constructing it, after which it can be applied.
