Death and compassion in Letters to God. An approach to the spiritual experience in death processes
Keywords:
spirituality, death, modern medicineAbstract
This article analyses Letters to God, written by philosopher Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt. Our analysis highlights that clinic practices have great difficulties to cope whit death processes from a humanistic point of view. More specifically, we analyse some difficulties to develop the spiritual dimension in a clinical context. Considering two of the main characters in the text, Oscar and Mami Rose, we demonstrate the importance of this experience to achieve a good death.
