CLIL is much more than teaching in English, because teaching in a foreign language is not the same as teaching a foreign language, nor the same as teaching in the mother tongue. Teachers’ language proficiency is not a guarantee of quality bilingual education. The methodological training in CLIL is fundamental to promote a linguistic and cognitive learning adapted to the needs of each student. Therefore, it is one of the most important challenges of bilingual education to ensure its long-term sustainability.
