Abstract

A decisive event followed the decision of a small boy to give his Croatian refugee friend a birthday party with the famous clown Tortell Poltrona. This would not be an isolated event, but a humanitarian aid NGO from the arts, Clowns without Borders, was created.

This NGO is made up of professionals from the performing arts and its objective is to relate people and societies in a creative way because art is a universal language. Laughter and humour are basic qualities in human beings that psychologically help to release stress. At the same time, they seek to make society aware of the situation of the affected populations and to promote attitudes of solidarity.
