The object of desire: desiring production in the schizoanalysis of Deleuze and Guattari or missing in the psychoanalytic theory of Jacques Lacan

French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan thinks the object of desire as a missing object that cannot be represented. Meanwhile, Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari reject in Anti-Oedipus (1972) any conception that relates desire to lack and defend that desire is a producing process of a real and present object. In their view Lacanian psychoanalysis condemns desiring subjects to a melancholic and perpetual dissatisfaction. The main objective of this article is to refute this view according to next three arguments: a distinction between lack and deprivation, the consideration of failure as not necessarily negative and the thesis that limited and partially unsatisfied desire is more liberating than a massively filled up desire.Downloads
