The Introduction of Aesthetics in Spain

Abstract

The introduction of aesthetics in Spain developed in several ways. One was the university. This paper makes a study about how this discipline entered the university. We are particularly interested in texts that were used at the time. For this reason, we review the programme of studies and realize how aesthetics was the subject of political debate. On the other hand, we study the texts of several subjects produced for students, such as, literature, metaphysics, psychology and rhetoric. They used aesthetics as an introductory phase in their schoolbooks.
