Adam Smith and the Social Theory
Keywords:
Adam Smith, social thought, value in use, value in exchange, object, tasteAbstract
This article is a study on Adam Smith’s social ideas in its historical background. As analytical means it uses the notions of «micro-sociology» and «macro-sociology», as well as Goffman’s dramaturgical view of sociology. Smith developed a «micro» social thought in the Theory of Moral Sentiments and another «macro» in the Wealth of Nations. He also defined the object (as product of workmanship and as consumer good) as the link between two dimensions in a double sense: 1) as a part of our place in everyday scene; and 2) as link between social relations in urban contexts which become more and more complicated every time.
