Abstract

All theories, even scientific ones, have a philosophical background. For some time, the Theory of Evolution made people think and say. Several authors have made contributions and critiques. This study presents the philosophical ideas underlying scientific explanation of biological evolution. It briefly presents generally its philosophical genesis and development, and particularly its epistemological ones. Also it aims to show its validity as a plausible explanatory theory of evolutionary phenomenon.
