Methodology and normativity in Critical Theory. The young Habermas in the light of Max Horkheimer

The aim of this paper is to address the matters of methodology and normativity in Jürgen Habermas´s Critical Theory through a comparative study with Max Horkheimer. I first analyses some early links between both authors. Secondly, I approach the issue of methodology of the social sciences. Thirdly, I try to interpret Habermas´s theory of cognitive interest in the light of Horkheimer´s critical theory. Finally, I make explicit the transformation of the normative foundations of critical theory following Habermas´s linguistic turn.
