Editor’s note: In his encyclical letter Laudato Si No. 139, note 117, Pope Francis cites section 2.1 of an article by the Argentine Jesuit Juan Carlos Scannone, which appeared in a book by the Latin American Jesuit Team for Philosophical Thinking, Irrupción del pobre y quehacer filosófico. Hacia una nueva racionalidad, Buenos Aires, 1993, under the title "La irrupción del pobre y la lógica de la gratuidad". Since this work is now out of print and therefore difficult to access, Pensamiento provides the service of republishing it, along with another piece by this author from the same book, namely: " La irrupción del pobre y la pregunta filosófica en América Latina", as this is basic for the intellection of the work cited by the Pope.Downloads
