Taksin Square and Gezi Park, both in Istanbul, have been the center of the world's attention for a few weeks. Are we witnessing a new Turkish spring? Is it a May '68 to the Turkish? What does seem clear is that it is not a confrontation, which is very frequent in Turkey, between secularists and Islamists. Rather, it is about the confrontation between two visions of Turkish social and political life, the immobile one and the one closest to a real democracy; they are unable to agree.
