On the occasion of the award of the Cervantes Prize 2019 to the bilingual Catalan poet Joan Margarit, brief presentation of his poetic and autobiographical work in Spanish and Catalan in its fundamental aspects —titles, subject matter, predominant expressive form—, in its creative context and in the present complex political situation. As the Cervantes Prize celebrates its fourth decade since it was first awarded, it is also a timely opportunity to reflect on the recognition and significant absences in the list of winners.
