El giro estadounidense hacia el hemisferio occidental durante el segundo mandato de Trump

El hemisferio occidental ha sido la región más relevante para la política exterior de Estados Unidos durante gran parte de su historia. Desde el fin de la posguerra fría, sin embargo, su relevancia se redujo a ámbitos de interés doméstico como la inmigración o la lucha contra el narcotráfico. La renovada relevancia durante la segunda administración de Trump, manifestada en documentos como la Estrategia de Seguridad Nacional de 2025 supone una ruptura importante que va más allá de su papel como última línea de defensa en caso de hegemonía de China en el Indopacífico. El objetivo de este artículo es precisamente analizar las causas de este importante cambio estratégico desde una perspectiva realista neoclásica.
