Abstract

This work deals with the influence of the Roman rhetorician Marcus Fabius Quintilian during the first two centuries of history of the Society of Jesus. In this period, a large number of Jesuits were familiar with Quintilian’s work, and used his teachings in their pedagogic and intellectual activities, contributing to the diffusion of the classical legacy.
