Abstract

“Teacher, I can’t follow the sport lesson, I have a tummy-ache” How many times have we heard this in the PE setting? How true it is?

Motivation in physical education is a matter of particular concern to teachers and academics. There is existing evidence showing that students who are highly motivated in this subject are more likely to engage in future physical activity.

This article presents some practical implications for the physical education class in the light of the two more important theories for the explanation of motivational processes in this setting.
