The article is an overview of the assessment of intellectual abilities. It presents some historical notes to contextualize the issue and a description of the structure of intelligence according to the most current theories. Furthermore, it defines the nature of the general ability and it presents a new tool for assessing intellectual abilities in the academic context. In addition, some empirical data about the relationship between intelligence and school performance are presented as well as some advices to enhance its development through everyday life tasks.Downloads
