Abstract

Assessment and grading are closely connected, yet they are not the same. Have we ever stopped to consider the values that guide us when carrying them out? Through everyday examples, this article explores ideas such as shared responsibility, justice, and equity, among others. It is an invitation to rethink deeply normalized practices and to become aware of the enormous impact our decisions have on students. Above all, it offers questions—and a few glimpses of possible answers.
