Self-awareness develops during the first two years of life, which is the subject of this article. It distinguishes between the "Me" (body, thoughts and abilities) and the "Self" (who perceives them). It explains how self-concept emerges progressively. Through various examples, it shows how children go from not recognising themselves to identifying their traits. This is the basis of self-esteem and self-concept.
