The history of educational technology is reviewed, from Gutenberg's printing press to current digital technologies. It explains how each advance transformed teaching by making it more visual, accessible, and participatory. Comenius is highlighted as a pioneer of audiovisual learning, and the current challenges of education in the audiovisual era are reflected upon.
