Abstract

Sixty years ago, Harper Lee published Kill a Mockingbird where she narrates her warm gaze as a ten-year-old girl towards her family and fellow citizens in a small town in Alabama. These pages, which soon became a remarkable success, describe the loss of a child's innocence in the midst of a world of honesty and injustice, of tenderness and social prejudice, of equality and inequality.
